Amanda Brugel

Brugel is the only Canadian in the cast of Season 1 was not was seen. In Season 2, Brugel was a regular member of the cast and is still part of it today. Asked about her role in the show and if there were parallels to her life prior to the cameras, Brugel stated that she had used her experience of race discrimination in relation to the way that Marthas are treated. "I don't just use it to fill in the house as a Martha but also, as I've said, past moments when I'm feeling like I'm being held down by circumstances because of race." My race has never caused me to be physically hurt through my entire life, but it's something that I've experienced. When someone says something threatening or smacking them or smacking me, I will use any racist remarks that were real to me.
